Homestead Exemption Application


Please Note: We are currently accepting E-file applications for the tax year 2025 only.


To be eligible for homestead exemption, you must be a permanent resident of Florida, who owns real property as of January 1 of the year in which you are applying.
Please have the following information available for all applicants:

  1. Valid Florida driver license or Florida identification card reflecting homestead address

  2. Florida vehicle tag number and/or voter registration reflecting homestead address

  3. Social Security number, Date of Birth, Date of Occupancy, Marital Status and Phone Number


  4. If you or your spouse receives a residency based exemption or benefit on any other property in another state you will need to provide proof that the exemption has been removed. Please verify with the local assessor of which the property is located.

Examples of exemption or benefits:
• The New York STAR Exemption
• Wisconsin Lottery and Gaming Credit
• Michigan Homestead Property Tax Credit
• Georgia Homestead Exemption
• Puerto Rico Exemption (CRIM)

The Orange County Property Appraiser's Office is committed to protecting your privacy and security. The information collected for the purpose of this application will only be retained until it has been processed by our office staff. At that point, your information will be removed from the E-file system.

NOTE: Disclosure of your social security number, and your spouse’s social security number, is mandatory and confidential. It is required by section 194.011(1), Florida Statutes. The social security number will be used to verify taxpayer identity information and homestead exemption information submitted to property appraisers.
